Abstract: Based on linear stability theory, parametric resonance phenomenon of a liquid-gas cylindrical flow in a vertical pipe with periodic fluctuation was discussed with the help of Floquet theory and Chebyshev spectral collocation method. The effects of different physical parameters were investigated on
the properties of parametric resonance and the stability characteristics of flow field.

Key words: linear instability, Floquet theory, parametric resonance
